Introduction
Benidorm is a seaside resort with many hotels, located in a bay. No one could now image that it used to be a sleepy little fishing village in 1953. Only a small authentic piece of Benidorm has remained. It has lots of shops, restaurants and bars. For places of interest it is best to go outside Benidorm. For people looking for a quit place to stay, Benidorm might be too lively. However, for those who like to party all night, Benidorm is the place to be. Benidorm is located about 45 km northeast of Alicante, south of Altea. It's a famous attraction along the Costa Blanca for those who love beach and nightlife. Benidorm has a fantastic climate which has a minimum temperature of 19 C in winter. As it is surrounded by mountains up to 1558 m high, this keeps away the cold north winds.
Being in Benidorm is having fun and real party time. It has more the 1000 Restaurants and over 30 Discos. The city is famous because of huge British and Irish communities, like in Torrevieja.
Beaches
Benidorm has two beaches, the Playa de Poniente and the Playa de Levante which are about 5 km long in total. The Playa de Levante is 2 km from the old town centre and is the most popular beach. The Playa de Poniente is situated on the edge of the old town centre and is the most quit beach.
Nightlife
Benidorm offers a huge nightlife with something for everyone: Bars with live shows, quizzes, bingo, karaoke, shows, English live bands playing all kinds of music. Most of the bars are on the Levante beach side of town. The Benidorm Palace, however, is located at the northern edge of the town, in the direction of el Rincon de Loix, and offers a professional international cabaret shows with top variety acts, vedettes, dancers, flamenco, etc. from all over the world. Most of the nightclubs are situated around The Square, with popular nightclubs like the Hippodrome and Bahamas. The largest clubs are Pasha, KU Disco or the KM Club which can accommodate thousands of people and attract DJs from all over the world. Molino Benidorm is one of the most popular nightclubs which offers lots of shows like striptease shows and funny shows with imitations of singers. It's in the direction of Avd. Beniarda.
Dancing
There are two disco areas in Benidorm, one in the Brittish area of Benidorm, next to Levante Beach and the other just outside town along the main road to Valencia. Here you'll find the largest discos of the city. Popular discos are: Pacha, Amnesia, KM., Penelope and Beachcomber Direction: road to Altea, just outside of Benidorm

Theme parks
There are many theme parks in Benidorm, which offers a lot of fun, especially for kids. A famous one is Terra Mitica, other well known theme parks are Mundomar and Aqualandia.

There are many golf courses in the Costa Blanca, all within a 2 hour drive from Benidorm.

Places to visit
- The Peacock Island / La Isla de Benidorm - This island can be reached by boat. Depth: 7 - 30 meters (23 - 98 feet). The Peacock Island is a popular diving place which is also visited by other diving centers in the area in summer. The north side of the island has grottos and slopes. The south and southwestern part of the island includes the dive sites 'El Faro' and 'Punta de Garbí'. About 15 and 30 meters / 49 and 98 feet under water, you will find a succession of large boulders, sheer walls, ledges and shallow caves, a variety of seaweed, sponges, octopuses and conger eels.
- Casco antiguo - Casco antiguo is the old city center of Benidorm. Just a few streets are left of the old center: the San Lorenzo, Santa Fez and San Vicente Streets.
- Mountains Sierra Gelada - Excursions can be made to the mountains of the Sierra Gelada
- Altea - a popular town located about 10 km north of Benidorm, is one of the most memorable coastal towns of the Costa Blanca. It has retained its own Spanish charm and is a popular place for artists, sculptors and writers. It got the official title 'Cultural Capital of the Valencian region'. It is situated directly by the sea in the midst of a beautiful bay and surrounded by rugged mountains. The name comes from the Moorish 'Althaya' which means 'health to all'. The Place l`Eglise in Altea offers a great view over the Bay of Altea, and is a beautiful church with murals, sculptures and stained glass windows.
- Valencia - Valencia is 130km away on the A7 motorway. It has a beautiful cathedral and many churches, palaces, musea and a botanical garden as well as nice shopping areas.
- Guadalest and safari park Aitana - Guadalest is located about 15 km north of Benidorm. It is a village on a rock which is quite hard to reach by foot from the parking place. It is a well-known place with many shops and musea. Nearby Guadalest you can visit a safari park Aitana (35 km from Benidorm). Address: Carretera Villajoyosa, Sella.
